If you didn’t know, today is the official observance of Social Media Day by techies, teens and geeks worldwide.
While it’s not universally recognized (meaning there aren’t many true “declarations” by government officials), it’s kind of a big deal.
Even Missouri’s gotten hip!
Yes, this year Missouri officially declared June 30 as Social Media Day. While many cities in America have officially recognized the international celebration, Missouri is one of the first states to issue such a proclamation.
According to an official statement from Gov. Jay Nixon’s office, Missouri is a growing center for digital innovation. Currently, the “Show-Me State” boasts thriving technology hubs in St. Louis, Kansas City and Columbia.
“We’re also proud to be the birthplace of social media icons such as Twitter’s Jack Dorsey, who began brainstorming and developing the possibilities of Twitter as a high-school student in the St. Louis area,” said Governor Nixon.
Not to be left behind, we here at The Brandon Agency are putting the wheels in motion to get Gov. Haley to take the lead of Gov. Nixon for Social Media Day 2014.
