Every summer, Brandon welcomes a bright and energetic group of interns into our fold. This year was no different, and we were thrilled to see the talent and enthusiasm these young professionals brought to the table. Our 2024 class included 9 interns, in various departments. We welcomed Emma Hewlett and Peyton Emery to the Client Services team; Dylan Thiessen, Alyssa Lawyer and Ellison Oxner to the Creative team; Helen Ingle to the Public Relations team; and Emily Stillion, Lane Jones and Audrey Carroll to our Social Media team. We recently interviewed our interns to hear about their experiences and the valuable lessons they learned during their time with us. Here’s what they had to say:
What was the most surprising aspect of your internship?
“I was pleasantly surprised by the engaging tasks I was given. Before the internship began, I wasn’t sure what projects I would be working on. Each assignment gave me an opportunity for growth, both creatively and analytically!” – Lane Jones, Social Media Intern
“During my internship, I was shocked by how agency life operates. One of the things that really surprised me was how tightly knit everything is. If someone on the team was out for a day, it set off this whole chain reaction of adjustments. It really showed me that agency work is all about teamwork. We’re constantly collaborating to create and produce amazing content for our clients. It made me realize just how crucial it is for everyone to be on the same page and ready to pitch in whenever needed.” – Emma Hewlett, Client Services Intern
“The most surprising aspect of my internship was how everyone on the Creative team is filled with such creative purpose and growth. Austin is great at pushing his creative team to grow as designers and see what more they can make and what skills they can learn to better themselves. It is a great learning environment for people like me who have yet to experience a creative role professionally. I was surprised by how much this pushed me to be a better designer as well as a better leader in the workplace.” – Alyssa Lawyer, Creative Intern
Did you discover any new strengths or skill sets during your internship?
“I have always been extremely organized in school, but learning the organization process here at Brandon taught me a lot. I feel a lot more confident in how I manage to stay organized and how to keep a lot of information in check. I also feel much more confident in meetings and speaking my thoughts. Before this internship I was a bit more timid in Zoom meetings with people, but now I feel very comfortable in myself and can ask questions or say my thoughts to everyone without feeling shy.” – Peyton Emery, Client Services Intern

What did you learn from this internship that you think will be most valuable in your future career?
“I was able to gain some insights into the daily routine of agency life that will be very helpful in determining what type of company and workplace I am looking to work in post-graduation.” – Emily Stillion, Operations and Social Media Intern

What did you enjoy most about working within our team?
“It is very evident that everyone who works here is smart, hardworking, enjoys working here, and are good leaders. I could tell that from our intern orientation when we met with everyone. It felt good to be working alongside such great people and it made my internship experience so great!” – Audrey Carroll, Social Media Intern

Our 2024 interns brought a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to each department this summer.
