While she didn’t deliver a hurricane to us this year, Mother Nature certainly made herself known throughout the trip. Inbound flights were slightly delayed while outbound flights were all together canceled thanks to poor weather. Our writers just didn’t want to leave us apparently…we had several stay over another night.
The “great white wonder”, otherwise known as a 15 passenger van, was our mode of transportation throughout the week. Who was it driven by you ask? Yours truly. I did quite well if I do say so myself considering I have never driven a 15 passenger van before and my driving record isn’t that sparkly clean. Let’s just say we all arrived in one piece.
The majority of our visiting writers were from the northeast and Canada therefore we did have a slight language barrier. Words such as y’all and grits were not understood by our northern friends. By the end of the trip, our writer from GoNomad.com was using phrases such as “plum tuckered” in just about every other sentence. What can I say…once you go south you never go back.
All in all, it was a great trip. We had amazing writers representing many top media outlets including About.com, Corporate and Incentive Travel, Cincinnati Woman Magazine and Water’s Edge. Now we just sit back and wait for the coverage to come pouring in.
Oh…and if you are driving around town this October…be on the lookout for the “great white wonder” – Fall FAM 2009 here we come!
