The Facebook/Amazon Partnership – A Match for Google
by Scott Brandon
on 07/30/2010
On Tuesday, Facebook and Amazon announced a partnership that I think has Google very concerned. The partnership is the most significant integration between the social and transaction-based segments of the web. In a nutshell what the integration allows is for Amazon to offer a “personalized” page, where consumers can see product recommendations that are influenced by their social media footprint, their friends and their own tastes. This is extremely powerful. For example, we know that Amazon has been the master of relational data and have used the purchase habits of its users to assist shoppers and make recommendations. Then, it added shopper reviews to the site, which gave the shopper a way to clearly distinguish between like products (it is said that adding reviews to the site increased sales by 30%). NOW, the shopper has even better data to make distinctions between products and to get recommendations based on data outside of Amazon’s shopper network.

In less than 5 years, social media has transformed marketing. Businesses (and marketers) now have unlimited outlets to plug their product and millions of additional consumers who are, or could be, exposed to their product. How exilerating and, well, overwhelming!
Cool Apps for Weary Searchers

I am in a constant struggle when I sit down and search for new apps for my iPhone. Inevitably, I end up completely frustrated by the fact that I am inundated with apps that don’t appeal to me. (Come on Apple, you have the Genius technology in the iTunes Store for music, develop the same concept for app downloading!!) Anyway, through my frustration, I press on and have discovered a few apps I can’t live without.

The iPad Will Change the Way We Compute
by Scott Brandon
on 04/28/2010
I am typing this new blog entry on my new iPad using the “Pages” productivity tool. Being in the communications business, I like to explore new technology, especially interactive technology to see what impacts it could have on marketing in the future.
As busy as I am, I would be the first to admit that I was not thrilled at having to manage “another” device. I already have a MacBook and an iPhone and keeping them synced and charged seems like enough trouble. (As an aside, I converted to Mac about eight months ago from being a life-long PC user and I am hooked). I did not pre-order my iPad but waited to read the initial reviews. After researching, I went to Best Buy and here I am.

Why You, as a Lawyer, Need SEO & PPC

Many law firms these days are starting to get serious about their online business.
Law firms with websites that are not optimized for search engines are like a defendant going to court without a lawyer.
There are two important elements of internet marketing that will help you stay ahead of your competition. These two elements are Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC). Some people might say one is better than the other, but the truth is, that a combination of the two will gain you the maximum benefit. PPC is good for short-term benefits, while SEO is good for Long-term benefits.
